TAGUM CITY — Three houses were destroyed when a landslide hit an upland village in Talaingod town, Davao del Norte, on Monday, disaster officials said Tuesday.
No one was hurt but several families were evacuated following the landslide in Sitio Lower Mesolong in Barangay Sto. Nino, according to Romulo Tagalo, provincial disaster risk reduction management council (PDRRMC) chief.
The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. as heavy rain battered Talaingod and most of Davao del Norte, Redentor Cardinal, PDRMMC action officer, said.
Tagalo said the affected families were currently undergoing community debriefing while personnel of the municipal disaster council and social welfare office have distributed relief goods to the displaced villagers.
He said the provincial government would be sending an earth-moving equipment to the site to clear the area of debris. Frinston L. Lim
