President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday morning paid his respects to the late Jesse Robredo at the Eternal Gardens in Naga City, Radyo Inquirer 990AM said.
Aquino was in Naga for the 3rd Jesse Robredo Day, which commemorates the life and death of the former secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), who died in a plane crash in 2012.
Those who accompanied Aquino were Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, Presidential Management Staff chief Julia Abad, Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima and Health Secretary Janette Garin.

They were welcomed by Robredo’s widow, Camarines Sur Representative Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo and her daughters.
The radio report said the President lit a candle beside the tomb, which was surrounded by white and yellow flowers.
Many of those who attended reportedly wore slippers, which was a symbol of the late Robredo’s low-profile or down-to-earth approach to leadership.

Aquino is headed to Naga City Hall where he is expected to give a speech following a message by Representative Robredo. IDL
