President Aquino paid last respects to his uncle, the late former Sen. Agapito “Butz” Aquino, on Monday evening.
Amid heavy rains, the President arrived at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City at 7:37 p.m. He was followed 23 minutes later by his sister, Pinky Aquino-Abellada.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer is still checking if the President’s three other sisters, Ballsy Aquino Cruz, Viel Aquino Dee and actress Kris Aquino paid a visit to the younger brother of their father Ninoy who died 4:22 p.m. Monday.
Sen. Bam Aquino told the Inquirer that following the wish of Butz Aquino, no wake will be held following his passing. His remains will be cremated on Tuesday at the Arlington Memorial Chapels in Quezon City, which will be followed by a private Mass for the family.
Senator Bam, who was accompanied by wife Timi, also said that a public Mass would be held on Saturday but the venue was still being determined, as of Monday.
Mr. Aquino and Pinky left the hospital at 8:19 p.m. Other members of the Aquino clan left minutes later.
The former senator’s death comes a day before Mr. Aquino’s scheduled trip to Naga City, where he will lead the commemoration of the third death anniversary of former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
His death also came four days before the nation commemorates the death of his brother who was assassinated on the tarmac of the then Manila International Airport. Jovic Yee, Philippine Daily Inquirer
