5 hurt as truck ploughs through houses along Batasan-San Mateo Road in QC

MANILA, Philippines – Five people were injured, including three children, when a 10-wheeler truck ploughed through several houses along the Batasan-San Mateo Road in Quezon City, a report on Radyo Inquirer 990AM said Thursday.

The five injured persons were sent to the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City, said Police Officer 3 Nicanor Benito T. Joven of Traffic Sector 5 said in a separate interview.

They are Maria Jolina Delaran, 13, who was described as being seriously injured; Maria Sonia Dadula, 46, Jovy Rose Dadula, 11, Norberto Estrera, 57, and Ronel Sifi, 43, said Joven.

The truck, which was carrying plywood, and with plate number CED 299, also damaged a parked Tamaraw FX and six houses, the 990AM report said.

The driver of the truck, identified as Lanny Boy Gales-Anahao, is in the custody of authorities, it said. He works for Peninsula Lumber / Wood Plaza Corp. owned by Emerson So.

Because of the accident, a portion of the Batasan-San Mateo Road going to Marikina City from Quezon City has been closed to traffic, it said.
