ZAMBOANGA CITY—An Abu Sayyaf member was reportedly killed and three others were injured, including a soldier, when a clash broke out between government forces and the bandit group in Sumisip, Basilan on Friday.
Capt. Ma. Rowena Muyuela, spokesperson of the Western Mindanao Command, said the clash in Barangay (village) Kaum Pamatsaken, which started at 5 a.m., lasted for about 15 minutes.
“It resulted in the injury of a soldier while we got reports one was killed and two others were wounded on the enemy side,” she said.
Muyuela said the group that the government forces had encountered was led by Radzmil Jannatul and Katatuh Balaman.
“Troops are currently conducting pursuit operations on the withdrawing bandits,” Muyuela said.
