The Quezon City police are tracking down a janitor and his unidentified female companion who are believed to be behind the killing of a condo resident last month.
Rolando Ferrer, 35, was tagged as the suspect after security camera videos showed that he was the last person to enter and leave the unit of Evelyn Tan on the night of July 9 at Grass Residences in Barangay Sto. Cristo. Tan, 55, was bound and showed signs of strangulation when found dead at her ninth-floor unit the next day.
Ferrer, a Caloocan City resident, worked as a janitor at Grass through a maintenance service agency from 2014 to March this year, but he continued to work as a cleaner for Tan as a “sideline,” according to Quezon City Police District homicide section head, Senior Insp. Elmer Monsalve.
Jewelry worth about a million pesos, cash and credit cards were stolen from the victim, Monsalve said Thursday. The QCPD later obtained security camera footage from Caloocan City stores showing a man who looked like Ferrer and a female companion making purchases using credit cards, the police official said.
