Police are now in hot pursuit of a janitor, and an unidentified female accomplice, believed to be behind the killing of a manager in her own Quezon City condominium unit last month.
Suspect Rolando Ferrer, 35, was the last person caught on security cameras entering and leaving the unit of building administration manager Evelyn Tan, 55, on the evening of July 9, before she was found tied up and strangled in her ninth-floor unit at the Grass Residences in Barangay Sto. Cristo the next day.
Ferrer, a Caloocan resident, was a janitor working at the condominium, through an agency, from 2014 up until March this year, said the Quezon City Police Homicide section head, Senior Insp. Elmer Monsalve. But after that, Ferrer continued to “sideline” as a cleaner for Tan.
More than a million pesos worth of jewelry, cash and credit cards had been stolen from Tan, Monsalve said.
Monsalve added that starting July 10, Tan’s stolen credit cards were recorded being used to purchase various items—from perfumes to appliances—in stores in Caloocan. Security camera footage from those stores showed the purchases were made by a man believed to be Ferrer, accompanied by a woman who would forge Tan’s signature.
On Monday, the Quezon City police filed a robbery with homicide complaint against Ferrer and a Jane Doe.
