Poe asks youth: Side with leaders with integrity

SENATOR Grace Poe made an indirect response to the attacks she is facing even if she is still mum on her plans for the 2016 polls.

In a speech before 1,500 youth delegates in the International Youth Day celebration, Poe asked them to be discerning on who they will choose as the next leader of the country.

She said that after the mudslinging among candidates, the youth should side with leaders with integrity.

“Kaya sa mga darating na araw importante rin na pag-aralan ninyo ang lahat ng issues. Marami ang mga personal na isyu ang ibinabato kung kani-kanino. Pero ang titignan ninyo, ano ba ang integridad ng tao, ano ba ang naibigay ng tao sa para sa amin?

At kung ito ba ay may kinakatakutan o ito ba ay tapat sa atin kahit ano pa ang magiging repercussions o kung ano pa ang kahihinatnan nito?” Poe said.

(In the coming days, I ask you to study various issues. Many are personal issues hurled to other persons. But you should look at the person’s integrity and what he has offered to the people and if he has something to fear or if he will remain honest even if faced with repercussions of his act.)

Poe is facing a complaint before the Senate Electoral Tribunal seeking to unseat her due to issues in her citizenship.

In her speech, she emphasized that the government should act fast in providing services to the people.

She also lamented the slow Internet speed and the sorry state of mass transportation in the country which both affect the youth.
