Death toll in NLEx accident in Bulacan rises to 2

BALAGTAS, Bulacan – Another passenger of a van that hit a truck along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) in Bulacan on Tuesday died on Wednesday in a hospital in Metro Manila, raising to two the number of fatalities in the accident, police said.

Supt. Voltaire Rivera, police chief of Balagtas, Bulacan, said Yolanda Tan, 68, died while undergoing treatment at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday morning.
 

Another van passenger, Angel Micaela dela Cruz, 18, died while being taken to the Bulacan Medical Center in the City of Malolos following the accident on Tuesday afternoon.
 

Tan and Dela Cruz were on the van’s front passenger seat. Sixteen others, including van driver Alie Cruz, 38, were hurt and rushed to different hospitals in Bulacan.
 

Police said the passenger van, a Nissan Urvan, was traveling along the NLEx’s northbound lane approaching the Tabang exit here when it hit the rear of a six-wheel truck at 1 p.m. Tuesday.  Carmela Reyes-Estrope, Inquirer Central Luzon
