DoJ secures 3 expelled Iglesia Ni Cristo members

The Department of Justice has placed in its protection three more former members of Iglesia ni Cristo.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said the expelled INC members have revealed sensitive information that could put theirs and their families’ lives in danger.

De Lima, on Thursday met with expelled INC members Joy Yuson, former coordinator of the TV arm of INC, Lito De Luna Fruto and Roel Rosal. They revealed information about alleged private army of INC, a prosecutor from the Department of Justice was involved in fabrication of charge against Minister Lowell Menorca and inmates from New Bilibid Prisons are used as “henchmen” against defiant members.

The three said they have been receiving threats to their lives and their families.

Last May, a grenade was thrown outside the house of Fruto.

At the same time, De Lima said she formed a new team to investigate the reported abductions of INC members.

She asked the three to execute an affidavit. The allegations of the three will also be investigated by the NBI.

De Lima formed a new team after the NBI earlier declared that the investigation against INC for missing ministers is already “case closed.”

She said some members of the previous team were INC members.

The DOJ through the Witness Protection Program has earlier provides protection to Anthony Menorca and his family. His brother, Lowell was earlier identified by Isaias Samson Jr., former editor in chief of Pasugo, INC’s official publication, as allegedly abducted in Sorsogon, taken and detained in Cavite for illegal possession of explosives.
