SIX students from Siquijor province received a college scholarship grant from the Philippine Angels Kids (PAK) Club, a government organization in Japan.
The scholars—Kentwarf Calibo, Gliza Mae Manos, Evan Jean Magsayo, Eric Lumacad, Fe Calomohay and Betche Mae Jaictin—are among the top 10 students of Candaping National High School of Maria town and Parami National High School of Lazi town.
“It’s heaven sent,” said Carlita Calibo, mother of Kentwarf Calibo. “With the rising prices of commodities, it seems impossible for us to send our children to college. I am thankful that God heard my prayers through this group,” Carlita said.
Club president Kozo Yoshimoto said the scholarship aims at assist the poor but deserving students. Yoshimoto said he believed that education is a powerful tool to secure one’s future.
The club has allocted 72 thousand yen per year for the six students.
