Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Thursday announced that Chinese fugitive Wang Bo has been deported to his country.
The Justice Chief said that as of 8:43 a.m., Thursday, Wang was already onboard a plane going to Guangzhou, China. Flight No. CZ3078. The plane officially took at 9 a.m. He has four Chinese escorts.
The summary deportation order (SDO) was implemented a day after de Lima denied the last bid of Wang to stop his deportation.
“He (Wang Bo) was already onboard the plane, in other words, the BI (Bureau of Immigration) immediately implemented the deporation when I issued the resolution yesterday,” de Lima said at a press conference.
The SDO was also implemented after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said there was no evidence to prove that Wang bribed immigration officials, De Lima and solons.
In a resolution issued Wednesday, De Lima affirmed her June 8, 2015 ruling that reinstated a March 5, 2015 SDO issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) against Wang.
The latest resolution stated that Wang “has been amply heard in the deportation and appeal proceedings thru his pleadings with the BI, the Court of Appeals, and his present motion for reconsideration.”
The resolution also pointed out that there was “no reason to reverse” the June 8 ruling that “the documents presented by the Chinese embassy are sufficient basis to order the deportation of [Wang].”
The June 8 resolution junked a May 21, 2015 resolution of the BI’s Board of Commissioners that reversed the SDO. The ruling was bolstered by the submission of documents by the Chinese Embassy that certified Wang as a fugitive from justice and bearer of a cancelled passport.
