A security guard was killed in the wee hours of Wednesday after he intervened in a car theft and abduction attempt at a casino in Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City.
Aludio Poliran, 52, was shot dead at 3:50 a.m., by the unidentified men who took the car of victim Enrico Lim, 38, and attempted to abduct him as Lim ran to take refuge at the e-Games branch on Quezon Avenue, at the corner of Gadia street where Poliran was on duty.
Lim, who had just come from the casino, was boarding his white Toyota Land Cruiser (PEI 116) when another car pulled up next to his, from which two men alighted.
The men, pointing guns at Lim, tried to herd him into the backseat of his own car, said Supt. Limuel Obon, commander of the Kamuning police station which has jurisdiction over the case.
But Lim was able to run back into the casino, while Poliran confronted Lim’s attackers. “So they turned their ire on him, and shot him,” killing him instantly, Obon said, in Filipino.
Lim’s vehicle was used by the assailants as their getaway car.
Obon said they have been trying to get copies of the casino’s security camera footage, to help in identifying the assailants.
Obon likewise expressed suspicion that the assailants had been “tipped” about Lim’s movements.
