Man ‘high on drugs’ stabs dead partner, baby in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — A 21-year-old man believed to be high on drugs stabbed dead his live-in partner and his nine-month-old baby in Sitio Paradise, Barangay Rizal, Silay City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday morning.

Sakura Hanna Jimenea, 20, succumbed to a fatal stab wound in the upper left part of her chest. She died while being treated at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

Her nine-month old baby was accidentally stabbed in the left side of his abdomen and was declared dead on arrival in the hospital, said PO2 Hazel Badian, chief of the Silay police Women and Children Protection Desk.

The suspect, Ed Agustin Ortilla, surrendered to to the Silay police, Badian said.

Investigation done by the Silay Police Women and Children Protection Desk showed that Ortilla, who admitted to have taken drugs in the past three days, stabbed Jimenea, who was cradling their 9-month-old baby, without any provocation at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Ortilla confessed to have been driven by jealousy when he committed the crime, Badian added. SFM
