LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – The deputy provincial police director of Camarines Sur was wounded and a civilian companion was killed in an ambush Sunday night in the town of Bato, also in Camarines Sur.
A sketchy report reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) regional headquarters in this city said Superintendent Romeo L. Pillonar was in a vehicle with several other persons when they were waylaid along the highway in Barangay (village) Buluang at about 6:25 p.m.
Pillonar, who suffered an unspecified wound, was brought to the Mother Seton Hospital in Naga City, while his companion, identified as Domingo Dancalan, was killed, the report said.
Dancalan was a resident of Barangay Santiago, Bato town, the report added.
Police said the motive of the incident was still under investigation.
