Family of slain soldiers to get houses

The kind of soldiers killed in the line of duty will be offered compensation in the form of housing assistance.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines is implementing an off-base housing program for military personnel killed in action in recognition of their selfless sacrifice.

This developed after the National Housing Authority (NHA) approved a policy granting housing assistance to the families of personnel of the AFP and the Philippine National Police who were killed while performing their duties.

In a statement, AFP chief Gen. Hernando Iriberri thanked the government on behalf of all soldiers who died in the service of the country.

“The AFP considers this as the government’s way of giving importance and honor to the sacrifices of our fallen soldiers who went beyond their call of duty and paid the ultimate price,” Iriberri said.

The military directed its major services to inform the slain soldiers’ next of kin to contact the Housing Management Division at Camp Aguinaldo for details.

The beneficiaries will be asked to submit their names, registered mailing address, contact numbers and preferred sites among the President Benigno Simeon Aquino III housing sites to the AFP Housing Board, which will be then endorsed to the NHA.
