On the orders of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ricardo Marquez, the PNP filed criminal and administrative charges against a Laguna town police chief following a sexual harassment allegation from a policewoman and a civilian employee.
Marquez on Friday said Senior Insp. Rex Langkay, Famy municipal police station chief, was also relieved from his post a day after the July 22 incident when the complainants, including a female PO1, said Langkay summoned them to his office while he was not wearing any underwear.
“Hindi ko hahayaan na madungisan muli ang pangalan ng PNP dahil sa mga ganitong uri ng gawain. As what I have said, do your job well and you will be rewarded. But betray your oath and violate the law, sisiguraduhin kong may kalalagyan kayo and now, here’s our action,” Marquez said in a statement.
Langkay is reportedly a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 2007.
A sexual harassment case was filed against Langkay at Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Regional Trial Court on Thursday while an administrative case for grave misconduct was filed on Tuesday at the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management in Camp Crame.
Langkay is transferred to the personnel holding and accounting unit of the Laguna provincial police office and will be replaced by Senior Insp. Henry Villagonzalo.
