Aquino arrives at Club Filipino for Roxas endorsement
PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III arrived at Club Filipino in San Juan on Friday morning as he is set to endorse Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II as his successor in the 2016 presidential elections.
Aquino, who arrived at 10:54 a.m. or more than 20 minutes after his scheduled arrival, is expected to give a speech at the Cory Aquino Kalayaan Hall endorsing Roxas as the standard-bearer of the ruling Liberal Party (LP).
In turn, Roxas will deliver an acceptance speech and declare his intention to run for the presidency in 2016.
Wearing yellow, LP members and supporters attended the so-called “Gathering of Friends.”
Family members of Roxas–mother Judy Araneta and son Paolo Gerardo–were present.
Celebrities spotted in the event included Mother Lily Monteverde, Alfred Vargas, Jim Paredes, Dingdong Avanzado and wife Jessa Zaragosa, and Angelica Jones.
