A photo of a lawmaker who shunned the fanfare brought by the red carpet before President Benigno Aquino III’s last State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday is making the rounds online as netizens praise her for her humility.
In a photo she posted on her official Facebook account, Camarines Sur Rep. Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo was seen going to the Plenary Hall of the House of Representatives through its backdoor entrance.
She said that she has been avoiding the frenzy on the red carpet ever since she was elected into office in 2013.
“Gotcha!! Was caught on cam on my way to the backdoor entrance of the Plenary Hall to escape the red carpet. 3rd year in a row I did this. First time to be caught,” Robredo captioned her photo.
The lawmaker, who is said to be one of the administration party’s candidates for the Senate in the 2016 elections, was with her daughters Jillian Therese, Jessica Marie and Janine Patricia during the Sona.
Most of the comments in Robredo’s Facebook post were positive, with Facebook users saying that they admire her humility and simplicity.
Flor Enriquez said that the lawmaker is “low profile but a woman with form and substance.”
Meanwhile, Techie Hernandez said “I like her simplicity, humility and sincerity… Admirable!”
Other users urged Robredo to run for the Senate.
