Nancy Binay: Roxas needed the morale boost from President Aquino
Finally, Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas got the needed boost from the President, Senator Nancy Binay said on Tuesday.
Binay said she was one of those who applauded when President Benigno Aquino III gave tribute to Roxas during his last state of the nation address Monday.
“I was clapping doon sa pinupuri niya si Sec. Mar. He needs that, ano, pangboost ng morale ni Sec. Mar,” she said in an interview.
(I was clapping when he was praising Sec. Mar. He needs that, to boost the morale of Sec. Mar.”
When asked why, the senator said: “E kasi di ba, paulit-ulit ko ngang tanong, ‘What is wrong with Sec. Mar?’ at hanggang ngayon e hindi pa siya ineendorso ni Presidente Aquino.”

Para ano pang kulang sa kanya at hindi mabigay kaagad yung suporta kay Sec. Mar?”
(He’s been a loyal soldier, he’s been a good friend to the President; but in spite of that loyalty, the President still managed to sit down with others vying for that position so I don’t understand why, why not him? Is there something wrong that he could not immediately give his support to Sec. Mar?)
Binay, though, acknowledged that Roxas also did something good as head of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
“You know, we have to give it to him naman. Siyempre may nagawa rin namang mabuti si Sec. Mar sa DILG (Of course, he’s also done something good for the DILG),” she said.
During his speech, the President notably thanked every member of his Cabinet but not the senator’s father, Vice President Jejomar Binay.

“Ganun talaga, ganun talaga ang life (Well, that’s life),” she said.
“Para sa amin mas importante yung papuri ng taong bayan, mas yun yung mahalaga. Yung pag umiikot kami sa iba’t-ibang probinsya, may lumalapit sayo at nagpapasalamat kasi nakatulong ang ating Vice President sa kanya, I think yun na yung mas, for us ha, mas satisfying as a public servant (For us, praises from the public is more important. When we go to different provinces and people approach and thank us, I think that is more satisfying as a public servant),” she further said.
