2 motorcycle riders killed in Iloilo accident

ILOILO CITY, Philippines –Two persons were killed on Monday afternoon when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a passenger bus in Lambunao town in Iloilo.

Police identified the fatalities as Romy Lentija, 34, and a fish peddler who drove the motorcycle, and his passenger, Jude Activa, both residents of the nearby town of Janiuay.

Insp. Felix Alyansa, chief of police of Lambunao police station, said the motorcycle and bus were  going in  opposite directions when the motorcycle moved into the bus’ path.

​The motorcycle rammed into the hood of the Calinog  Bus Liner driven by Felomino Sombrino, 57.

Lentija and Activa were thrown several meters away. They were brought to the Dr. Ricardo Y Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Lambunao but were declared dead on arrival by the attending physicians due to multiple head and body injuries. The victims were not wearing their helmets and were said to be drunk at the time of the accident.

​The  bus driver was detained at Lambunao police  detention cell pending the filing of appropriate charges.
