Aquino praises PNP’s successes in peace and order
PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III lauded the successes of the Philippine National Police (PNP), saying that such hard work should be rewarded.
Aquino said the Oplan Lambat Sibat of the PNP has resulted in the arrest of 163,000 wanted criminals, the neutralization of 1,000 gangs, and the confiscation of 29,294 guns without license.
He said high-profile criminals like retired general Jovito Palparan have also been arrested.
“This is the first time in history that each of our policemen have a gun,” he said, before showing a video of a member of the Aviation Security Group explaining how the newly deployed guns help improve the odds of law enforcers against criminals.
Aquino said 302 patrol jeeps, 577 utility vehicles, 12,399 handheld radios, 30,136 long firearms and 3,328 investigative kits have been procured for the government to boost the capabilities of the PNP.
This is in addition to the subsistence allowance and housing units granted to the uniformed services.
