THE Lapu-Lapu City jail warden yesterday assured there would be no special treatment for the Kenyan woman, who was arrested at the Mactan Cebu International airport for bringing in three kilos of shabu.
Jail Warden Jennifer Joyce Abar said Asha Atieno Ogutu, 25, received the same treatment as those of the other 81 female inmates at the Lapu-Lapu City jail female dormitory.
Abar said Ogutu, who is called “Miss Brown” in the city jail, washed her own clothes and joined with the cleanup of the detention cell and in their surroundings.
She also slept on the floor together with other inmates. She was the first foreign national detained in the city jail.
Abar, however, said that Ogutu was served vegetables and fish because she was allergic to pork.
“Dili man pud mi gusto maunsa siya mao we served her with vegetables and fish, which were also served to other inmates,” Abar said.
In her first day in the city jail, Abar said that Ogutu cried especially during the inspection of her luggage, which also contained some baby clothes.
Ogutu arrived at the jail past noon last Monday.
After the inspection, the Kenyan national deposited her luggage to the supply accountable officer for safe keeping and was made to sign a waiver./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
