Man arrested for murder

Police arrested a suspect in the killing of a 20-year-old woman whom he tried to rape in barangay Adlaon, Cebu City, last Monday.

Police said William Magno admitted that he tried to rape Mary Grace Rabina then shot her in the face  when she resisted.

Magno said he had been courting the woman,  although she already had a live-in partner.

Magno said the woman had been confiding in him about her  problems with her partner,  Ryan Inocando.

The suspect said he went to the woman’s house when he saw Inocando leave around 9 a.m.

He tried to force himself on the woman, but she fought back.

The woman was found lying on her back on the hut’s  bamboo floor.

Police said two witnesses saw an armed Magno leave the house after the killing.

Police and tanods later tracked down the suspect in the barangay./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
