Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Florenz Regalado died at age 87, the Supreme Court has announced Friday evening.

As justice of the Supreme Court, he served from July 29, 1988 to October 13,1998.

He was born on October 13, 1928, in Iloilo. Justice Regalado graduated magna cum laude in 1954 from San Beda College of Law.

To date, he remains the record holder for the highest average in the Bar examinations with a grade of 96.7 percent.

Prior to his stint at the Supreme Court, he was a member of the Constitutional Commission that drafted the Constitution. He has also extensively written books on Remedial Law, a required reading for law students. TVJ
