The water in Angat Dam in Bulacan, which supplies most of Metro Manila’s needs, finally returned to operational level for irrigation on Friday.
The water level at Angat Dam was at 180.07 meters as of Friday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
On Thursday, the water level was at 179.96 m. At least 180 m of water level is needed for irrigation to farmlands in Bulacan and parts of Pampanga or else it will be cut off to preserve the dam’s water supply to Metro Manila households.
The rains dumped by the southwest monsoon in recent weeks have caused the water level to rise. Since May, the water has been below the operational level for irrigation due to dry spell.
Other dams also increased water levels on Friday, Pagasa said.
Ipo in Bulacan’s water level rose to 100.75 m from 100.39 m the previous day; La Mesa was at 79.22 m from 79.2 m, and Magat was at 174.97 m from 174.84 m.
Meanwhile, water level at four others dams went down.
Ambuklao is at 751.2 m from 751.57 m; Binga at 573.4 m from 574.68 m; Pantabangan at 182.32 m from 182.39 meters, and Caliraya at 287.1 m from 287.28 m.
