THE Mandaue City School for the Arts (MCSFA) organized their “1st Run for Fitness, Fun & Cause” in barangay Casili, Mandaue City last Sept. 18.
MCSFA high school principal Leonila Cortes said the event was a fund-raising activity of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA).
PTA president Alice Cabatingan headed the preparations and tapped their sponsors.
The elementary department, pupils and their parents were also invited to the event.
Aside from the MCSFA community, residents of barangay Casili and neighboring communities also participated.
The 3k and 5k runs started and ended at the school.
The first three finishers in each category were awarded with trophies, medals and cash prizes.
Aldrin Agan, first place in 5k category, said he was happy to win, adding he was just there to have fun but also did a little jogging to prepare for the event.
Marie Jame Dolotina, a grade 2 pupil, was the first student to reach the 3k finish line.
“Ang naka-nindot ani nga fun run kay naa man gud siya sa bukid, unya fresh ang air compared sa uban nga naa sa city (What makes this fun run unique is that it is held in the mountains where the air is fresh, unlike in the city),” said Chibelle Flores, a graduate of MCSFA high school who joined the run.
The organizers of the event were thankful for the successful event and were planning to hold the same activity next year, this time with more participants. /UP Masscom student Aeda Mari P. Miñoza
