In anticipation of a massive earthquake that may hit Metro Manila, an earthquake drill will be held at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on Thursday morning, July 23, as part of the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense.

Different scenarios will be simulated, such as building evacuation, car collision, first aid treatment, ensuing fire, among others.

The drill will start at 9 a.m. with the ceremonial pushing of a button along 5th Avenue, which would signal the start of the quake drill.

The stretch of 5th Avenue and nearby streets will be closed to traffic.

Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), Taguig Mayor Laarni Cayetano, and DSWD Assistant Secretary Vilma Cabrera will attend the event.

The earthquake drill is part of the preparation of Metro Manila and various sectors of society in the event a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hits the metropolis.

The quake drill BGC on July 23 is ahead of the Metro Manila earthquake drill on July 30 where a metro-wide drill will be held.
