THE weather bureau on Wednesday warned of possible flooding in Metro Manila and nearby provinces in Luzon due to heavy rains.
“Thunderstorm is affecting Metro Manila (Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig), Cavite (Mendez, Amadeo), Laguna (Cabuyao, Sta Rosa), Quezon (Lucena, Tayabas, Atimonan), Bataan (Morong), and portions of Bulacan, Rizal and Pampanga which may persist for 1 to 2 hours and may affect nearby areas,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in an advisory issued at 3:55p.m.
Residents of these areas were advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods.
In Wednesday’s forecast, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms are expected in most parts of the country.
A low-pressure area off Catanduanes, meanwhile, will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms in Bicol region and Eastern Visayas.
The LPA is not expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone. Frances Mangosing
