NPA leader, wife arrested in QC and Bulacan

A ranking leader of the New People’s Army and his wife were arrested by police and military forces in Quezon City and Bulacan on Monday, the military said.

Ernesto Lorenzo alias Ernie Lorenzo/ Adlai/ Lugod/ Archimedes Bella, First Deputy Secretary of Southern Tagalog Region was captured in Gilmore Commercial Plaza at around 12:15p.m., Armed Forces spokesperson Lt. Col. Noel Detoyato said on Tuesday.

Lorenzo is facing criminal charges for destructive arson issued by a regional court in Lucena City in Quezon last 2010.

He was also identified as a member of the Executive Committee of Southern Tagalog Region and the Head of its Regional Organization Department.

His party wife, Joyce Felicia Layatan, was arrested by joint police and military units in San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan at round 2p.m. on Monday.

Lorenzo and Latayan are now at Camp Crame.
