De Lima backers launch campaign
A group pushing for the candidacy of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima for senator will begin operations in Quezon City on Monday.
De Lima is reportedly being eyed as an administration candidate. She said last week she was “80-percent” sure about running.
Calling itself “#Lima2016,” the group said it was “a voluntary movement of individuals and groups committed to pursue democratic governance and a rights-based reform agenda.”
In a statement, the group’s convenors, led by lawyer Dahlia Salamat, said they “strongly believe” De Lima “can perform these responsibilities through legislation and become the voice of the underserved and disadvantaged in the Senate.”–Jerome Aning
