Good news for the aspiring Iskolar ng Bayan: The country’s premier state university has announced that the application for University of the Philippines’ College Admission Test (Upcat) can now be processed online.

In a bid to make UP education more accessible to the digital-savvy youth, the university on Friday said the eligibility, documentary, and procedural requirements of Upcat could be accessed through the online application website (https://upcatonline.up.edu.ph/).

“The online application website is an expression of UP president Alfredo E. Pascual’s commitment to making UP education more accessible to a greater number of interested students,” UP said in a statement posted on its official website. “President Pascual is encouraging these students to visit the website for information on how to apply for the university and what the university can offer for them.”

UP said the launch of the online Upcat application was aimed at reducing costs and avoiding errors in encoding while maximizing technology.

“With the online application, parents, students and schools no longer have to go to UP campuses to get application forms or send their forms and other requirements via mail. The online application will enable faster completion as well as processing of Upcat applications,” the statement read.

Aside from admission requirements, the Upcat application website also features examination tips and information on available undergraduate programs and scholarships.

“Once an applicant is issued a test permit, a link to an Upcat Online Reviewer will be provided. The official Upcat reviewer will be made available to applicants on the first week of August. Applications for the Upcat will be ongoing until 30 July 2015,” UP added.
