Malaysian wife-beater in viral video arrested
KOTA KINABALU—An unemployed man has been arrested after a video showing him beating his teenage wife in the city went viral.
The 20-year-old local man was arrested less than 12 hours after the alleged incident that occurred at about 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Police chief Asst. Comm. M. Chandra said the victim, a 16-year-old holder of the IMM13 card, had lodged a report saying that she was beaten by her husband over some family matters.
“The man was nabbed in Sinsuran near where they were living, while the victim was taken to the hospital to treat her injuries,” he said adding that the couple has a 10-month old son.
The 90-second video showed a man literally climbing out of a car and assaulted a woman in a car park.
