SAN PEDRO CITY — The city government of Antipolo, Rizal, on Thursday offered a P100,000 reward for any information that might lead to the arrest of the suspected gunmen in the double killing of a barangay (village) official and a 10-year-old child.
Ferdinand Sallador, 48, a councilor of Barangay Mambugan, was the target of two motorcycle-riding tandem.
The police report said Sallador went out to buy lunch and was about 500 meters from the village hall when gunned down past noon on Wednesday. Sallador immediately died of a gunshot wound in the head.
As this happened, the second victim, Lenell Abiul, 10, was walking by when Sallador was shot.
“Witnesses said the child pointed at one of the gunmen as if he had recognized him,” said the case investigator, Chief Insp. Aries Dogwe of the Antipolo police.
He said the gunman shot the child in the neck before fleeing. Abiul also died instantly.
In a statement, city mayor Casimiro Ynares III vowed justice for both victims.
Dogwe said they were primarily investigating Sallador’s tasks as head of the committee in charge of urban settlers in the city.
