DepEd reiterates protocols on make-up classes
THE Department of Education (DepEd) has reminded schools to conduct make-up classes in lieu of class suspensions in the past weeks due to bad weather.
“In light of the recent class suspensions due to Typhoons Egay and Falcon, DepEd would like to reiterate DepEd Order no. 9, s. 2015 which states the protocols on the make-up classes,” the department said in a statement on Monday.
According to DepEd Order no. 9, series of 2015, “make-up classes are recommended in lieu of no-school days due to occurrence of natural and man-made calamities.”
“A mechanism for having make-up classes must be agreed upon by school administrators and parents,” the order added. “In this regard, the RO may issue a regional school calendar to reflect their respective concerns.”
Various local government units in Metro Manila and nearby provinces have suspended classes in the past weeks due to heavy rains spawned by typhoon-enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagat.” Yuji Gonzales
