Roxas: I’m tried and tested when it comes to ‘sacrifice’
Is he ready to make the sacrifice for a second time?
Interior Secretary Mar Roxas maintained on Wednesday that he has proven his willingness to let go of his personal ambition in pursuit of a greater goal.
Roxas, the likely standard-bearer of the ruling Liberal Party in the next year’s elections, made the comment moments before the his scheduled dinner meeting with President Aquino and Senators Grace Poe and Francis Escudero Wednesday night for a unity ticket in the 2016 elections.
“Sacrifice? I think you should not be asking me about that because my track record will clearly show my capability to sacrifice and give way for a bigger objective in pursuing ‘daang matuwid’ (straight path),” Roxas told reporters after leading a forum on disaster preparedness in Malabon City.
“For me, my interest is to continue the programs that the President had started. It’s important for us to assure our countrymen that the programs that benefitted them will continue,” he added.
The interior secretary also confirmed that Mr. Aquino had invited him to a casual meeting with Poe and Escudero Wednesday night.
