Street encounter in Binondo with stranger ends badly

A 28-year-old saleslady died late Monday night at a Manila hospital where she was brought after she was gunned down by a stranger she had accidentally bumped while walking.

Robysita Sacramento, an employee of 168 Supermart, sustained four bullet wounds in the body, said SPO1 Giovanni Valera, of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section.

Valera said the gunman fled after the shooting, following an argument with the victim along C.M. Recto Avenue near Camba Street in Binondo.

Sacramento and a coworker, Liezel Torremonia, were walking home at around 7:30 p.m. from work when the victim accidentally bumped into a man.

The man had shouted at Sacramento, and an argument followed.  After the suspect walked away,  Sacramento asked Torremonia to report the incident at the nearest barangay outpost while she waited near a barbecue stand.

“While her companion was gone, she held a barbecue stick as her weapon in case the stranger returned,” Valera told the Inquirer.

When Torremonia failed to find any barangay outpost and was walking back to rejoin her companion, she heard gunfire and later found a bloodied Sacramento lying on the ground and gasping for breath.

Valera said the witness remains in shock over the incident and has not provided details that could lead to the identification and arrest of the gunman.
