TYPHOON-ENHANCED southwest monsoon will continue until the weekend and the weather will improve only on Monday.
In a press briefing at Camp Aguinaldo on Thursday, Esperanza Cayanan of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the surge of the heavy rain may be experienced between 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday.
The rains, which will be at 10 millimeters per hour, will be over Metro Manila and the areas surrounding it, as well as Central Luzon.
“Ito ang worst scenario na tinitignan natin bukas. Yung madaling araw ating tingnan kung talagang mangyayari,” she said.
“Mas maganda ang inaasahan na panahon by Sunday so makakapaglaba na tayo by Monday,” she added.
By Tuesday, Typhoon Nangka outside the Philippine area of responsibility may also start to enhance the southwest monsoon.
But weather forecasters have yet to observe its track as it gets to closer to the PAR.
Falcon gained strength on Thursday. It packed maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 170 kph.
It continued to move northwest at 22 kph.
The southwest continued to prevail in Luzon and Western Visayas.
