Red rainfall alert up in Cavite, Laguna

THE weather bureau warned of torrential rains in Cavite and Laguna after red warning level was raised on Wednesday afternoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued the red rainfall alert at 2:10p.m.

Serious flooding is expected in flood-prone areas and evacuation is suggested.

A red rainfall alert means more than 30 millimeters of rain were observed in an hour and it will continue in the next two hours.

In Bataan, Batangas, Zambales and Metro Manila, a yellow rainfall alert was raised.

This means 7.5 to 155 mm of rain was observed in an hour and is expected to continue in the next two hours.

Flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains affecting portions of Bulacan, Rizal, Pampanga, Quezon and Tarlac that may persist within two to three hours, Pagasa said.
