Given ‘final chance,’ VP Binay snubs Senate body’s probe anew

The Senate blue ribbon subcommittee proceeded with its hearing on Tuesday sans Vice President Jejomar Binay.

In his opening statement, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel   III, chairman of the subcommittee, said he was convinced that Binay will not attend the hearings despite repeated invitations by the subcommittee.

Pimentel noted that Binay was already given sufficient time to attend the hearings and answer the allegations hurled against him.

In a letter to Binay on June 29, 2015, the committee chair reiterated the subcommittee’s invitation in what the senator said could be the Vice President’s “final chance to address point-by-point all the issues and allegations hurled against you in the course of the hearings.” IDL
