Grenade misses soldiers in Jolo, injures 7 civilians
ZAMBOANGA CITY – At least seven persons were hurt in a grenade attack allegedly perpetrated by the Abu Sayyaf in Jolo, Sulu, on Tuesday.
Colonel Allan Arrojado, commander of the Joint Task Group Sulu, told the Inquirer that a suspected bandit threw a fragmentation grenade at a military vehicle, which was passing by Scott Road around 7 a.m.
The grenade missed the vehicle and instead exploded by the roadside, where several people were milling, he said.
Seven of the bystanders, Arrojado said, were hit by shrapnel and were brought for treatment to a hospital.
