Egay moving slowly out of country
Tropical Storm “Egay” continued to move northward at its slow pace and was spotted 225 kilometers northwest of Laoag City in Ilocos Norte as of 10 p.m., the state weather bureau said late Monday night.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its bulletin issued 11 p.m. that Egay maintained its maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 90 kph.
Egay was forecast to move northward slower at 7 kph from the previous 9 kph.
Pagasa kept Ilocos Norte, Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, northwestern Cagayan, and Apayao under storm warning signal No. 1 and lifted the warning signal over Ilocos Sur and Abra.
The storm is forecast to be 430 km northwest of Basco, Batanes, outside of the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday evening.–Rick Alberto
