MODERATE to heavy rains are expected in parts of Luzon and Visayas until next Monday due to tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon, the state weather bureau said in its weekly outlook.
While Tropical Storm Egay is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday or Thursday, another storm is seen to enter PAR by Tuesday or Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Egay is forecast to move towards Batanes and will bring moderate to heavy rains there. But the southwest monsoon will bring rains over the western section of Central and northern Luzon, Cagayan Valley, Metro Manila, Calabarzon and Mimaropa, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
In Visayas and Bicol region, there will be cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
By Wednesday, Tropical Storm Chan-hom (international name) is expected to enter PAR and will enhance the southwest monsoon. It will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Western Visayas, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Bataan, Zambales, Cagayan Valley and Metro Manila. Egay, meanwhile, is expected to exit PAR by Thursday evening.
Chan-hom, which will be locally named Falcon when it enters PAR, is also expected to exit PAR by Thursday evening or Friday morning.
Metro Manila, northern and Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Bicol Region, Cagayan Valley and the rest of Visayas will experience cloudy with light to moderate rains while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms from Thursday to Monday next week due to the southwest monsoon.
Another storm with international name Nangka is being monitored by Pagasa but said it is still too far away to give a forecast.
