Stranded port passengers down to 500

At least 508 passengers were stranded in ports of Luzon and Visayas due to Tropical Storm “Egay” (international name: Linfa), the Coast Guard said Monday.

As of 4 a.m., there were 58 vessels, and 31 motor bancas stuck in ports under the various Coast Guard Stations (CGS).

The breakdown is as follows:

1) Coast Guard District Central Visayas

2) Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon

3) Coast Guard District Bicol

4) Coast Guard District Palawan

5) Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog Luzon

Tropical Storm Egay is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday evening. As of early Monday, it remained stationary over Luzon Sea.

The storm packed maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center with gusts of up to 100 kph and was last observed 135 kilometers southwest of Laoag City in Ilocos Norte.

It moved north at 7kph.
