LEGAZPI CITY – Two inmates were injured in a riot at the Sorsogon provincial jail in Sorsogon City on Friday afternoon, police said.
The two prisoners, identified as Norman Balaguer and Ariel Arana, were rushed to a hospital in Sorsogon City due to injuries caused by Indian arrows, according to Senior Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Bicol Philippine National Police (PNP).
Calubaquib, in a text message, said they were still determining what caused the riot that erupted sometime around 3 p.m.
She said jail authorities were able to quell the riot and, in the inspection that followed, confiscated at least a dozen Indian arrows and assorted sharp objects from the prisoners. Ma. April Mier
