EVEN if he was suspended from office and has left city hall, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay did not miss the formal launching of his father’s political party.
The younger Binay appeared at the launching on Wednesday of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), the political party that will propel the presidential bid next year of his father, Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The suspended mayor arrived at the Makati City Coliseum as the party’s program was being held.
Binay joined his father and mother, Dr. Elenita Binay, who sat near the stage, along with sisters Sen. Nancy Binay and Makati City Rep. Abigail Binay.
The younger Binay decided to leave city hall hours earlier after failing to get a temporary restraining order from the Court of Appeals on the second suspension order issued against him by the Office of the Ombudsman.
The mayor was ordered suspended by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales for his alleged involvement in the overpriced Makati Science High School.
