Junjun Binay: Cops in scuffle vs VP are just faking injuries
Makati City Mayor Jejomar “Junjun” Binay has said that some of the policemen allegedly hurt in last night’s confrontation with Vice President Jejomar Binay are just faking it.
“May mga pulis daw na nagrereklamo kay VP Binay. Alam niyo naman na magagaling drumama ang mga pulis na yan (There are some policemen who are preparing to file charges against Vice President Binay. We all know that these policemen are just faking it),” Binay said in a press conference on Tuesday.
The mayor said many of the family’s supporters, including barangay (village) officials, sustained injuries from police officers.
On claims that Vice President Binay assaulted police officers, the younger Binay said his 72-year-old father cannot hurt taller and bigger policemen.
“Mas mataas pa kay VP [Jejomar] Binay? Sa tingin mo kayang saktan ni VP Binay ang mga pulis na yun? (Are the policemen taller than VP Binay? Do you think that VP Binay can hurt policemen who are bigger than him?),” he said.

Why is the CHR not investigating police officers who are assaulting ordinary civilians who are just working for a living?”
Binay took a swipe at Interior Secretary Mar Roxas whom he said was turning a blind eye on the case of abusive officers.
“This is the kind of policemen that Secretary Roxas wants to populate the police force because he is tolerating it … There are many abusive police officers and we are refusing to accept that fact,” the younger Binay said.
Senior Supt. Elmer Jamias said the police would file a case against the Vice President for allegedly assaulting and threatening police officers deployed at the Makati City Hall on Monday evening.
The older Binay reportedly collared Chief Insp. Gideon Gines for allegedly pushing his sister-in-law Aida Dizon. Gines denied the claim.
On Tuesday morning, a brief scuffle ensued between Binay supporters and policemen who assisted officials of the Department of Interior and Local Government in serving the suspension order against the mayor and 14 other city officials. Eight persons, three of whom were lawmen, were injured.
