In the Know: Gerry Limlingan and Eduviges ‘Ebeng’ Baloloy

Gerry Limlingan and Eduviges “Ebeng” Baloloy were among 14 people the Senate had ordered arrested and detained for snubbing hearings into corruption allegations against Vice President Jejomar Binay when he was mayor of Makati City.

The Senate’s sergeant at arms, Jose Balajadia, said some of the people ordered arrested were nowhere to be found, among them Limlingan and Baloloy.

Limlingan and Baloloy were among the people named in a partial report of the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee against whom plunder and graft charges should be filed for their alleged involvement in the overprice of the Makati City Hall Building II.

Ernesto Mercado, a former Makati City vice mayor who had a falling out with Binay, has told the subcommittee he handed over duffel bags containing millions of pesos in alleged kickbacks for Binay to both Limlingan and Baloloy.

Records of the Securities and Exchange Commission showed that Limlingan was the registered owner and vice president of Agrifortuna Inc. and a shareholder of Meriras Realty and Development Corp. Limlingan is also a board member and business sector representative of the University of Makati and president of the JC Binay Foundation.

Limlingan has been reported to have joint bank accounts with the Vice President that were ordered frozen by the Court of Appeals on suspicion that these were being used for illegal activities.

Baloloy was Binay’s personal secretary. Inquirer Research
