Edsa road-sharing event slated on June 28 postponed

The Metro Manila Development Authority on Friday postponed the Edsa road-sharing activity scheduled on Sunday, June 28.

In a memrorandun approved by MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino, it said the activity was “deferred to a later date due to the following reasons:

1. SM Mall of Asia has previously scheduled a fun run on the same date and its conformity to the Bayanihan sa Daan could not be confirmed

2. There are DPWH reblocking and  road repair projects on Edsa, the suggested venue for the activity

3. Administrative difficulties within the agency

4. Weekend mall sales along Edsa

The road-sharing event or the “Bayanihan sa Daan is an activity where both the north and southbound lanes from Ortigas Avenue in Quezon City to the Mall of Asia in Pasay will have designated lanes for buses, private cars, pedestrians and bikers.

The event was proposed by the Share the Road Movement headed by environmental lawyer Antonio Oposa Jr.
