Armed Caloocan man nabbed for stealing Siberian Husky

A man who allegedly broke into a house and stole a Siberian Husky on Tuesday night in Caloocan City faces charges of robbery and illegal possession of firearms in the city prosecutor’s office.

Thomas Jefferson Cua was arrested by the police after the dog owner, Ina Mayumi Yanga, tagged him as the one who took “Spree,” her family’s seven-month-old dog, from her garage on V. Mapa Street, Barangay 122, in Caloocan.

The police said Cua yielded a .38-cal. revolver when arrested. The jobless man, who resides in the same village, denied the pet owner’s allegations but failed to produce any permit for his gun. The dog, whose worth was placed at P14,000, has yet to be recovered by authorities.

Yanga told the police that she was inside the house when she heard someone open the gate by destroying the lock. She then saw through a screen door how the suspect took the dog.

“I was stunned so I wasn’t able to go after him. Everything happened so fast,” she said. A witness corroborated Yanga’s account, saying he also saw the suspect with a Siberian Husky.
